10 Horror Video Games Dying To Be Remade
2. Dino Crisis
The original Dino Crisis is more than just 'Resident Evil but with dinosaurs,' though as an elevator pitch, that'll do the trick. Any fans who played the original have nothing but fond memories though there's plenty more than sentimentality to recommend Dino Crisis for a modern day remake.
Dino Crisis see you play as Regina, a special operative, as she and her team investigate a secret research base on a secluded island. It's no spoiler to say that there's dinosaurs about (clue's in the name, eh?).
The title was developed by Shinji Mikami and the original Resident Evil team, though with the intention of creating a 'panic horror' experience rather than survival horror, insofar as the dinosaur foes were faster and more intelligent than Resident Evil's zombies.
Despite critical praise and good performance, Mikami still felt the dinosaur A.I. could have been more complex, and with next gen power, such a vision could be fulfilled and then some.
Dino Crisis' realtime graphics and other such design choices were lauded at the time; just think what could be achieved now. A remake of Dino Crisis would seem to be the perfect complement to the current Resident Evil offerings.
