10 Hotly Anticipated RPGs That'll Blow You Away In 2016

10. Kingdom Come: Deliverance - PS4, Xbox One, PC

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming crowd-funded RPG that takes place in 15th Century Bohemia, set against the backdrop of actual historical events such as the Hussite Wars and the Papal Schism. You control a humble blacksmith on a quest to avenge the death of your father by restoring the king back to the throne. Unlike just about every other RPG ever created, Kingdom Come is aiming to stay as true to reality as possible. It has a team of historians on-hand to ensure that everything from the armour, clothing and castles, to the music and fighting styles, is historically accurate. So you're not likely to see much Geralt-style ballet-like spinning attakcs, or green glass swords a la Skyrim. Economies, peoples' attitudes, and locations in the world will shift and adapt to the player's actions and major events. So if you commit crimes that don't get resolved, locals will start becoming more hostile and suspicious towards the player and each other. To help the combat capture that gritty feel of real medieval martial arts, physics will be incorporated, so swords will slide off shields, bows will be hard to shoot accurately with (though lethal when they hit their target), and characters can be knocked off-balance with well-placed attacks. Hit your enemy in the right one of his 36 distinct bodily 'zones', and he's a dead man. Don't think you'll have it easy though, because the same applies to you. Kingdom Come is due out in 2016.
