10 Hotly Anticipated RPGs That'll Blow You Away In 2016

3. Horizon: Zero Dawn - PS4

New IPs on consoles are a rare luxury in today's age of remasterings and increasing homogeneity between the PS4 and Xbox One. Horizon Zero Dawn is just such an IP, and an open-world RPG no less. From the developers of Killzone, Horizon takes place in a post-apocalyptic world of mechanised dinosaurs and dead civilisations - which is a great premise. You control Aloy, a hunter/archer trying to survive in this hostile - but visually breathtaking - world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkg5UVTsKCE Horizon has been referred to as an 'action RPG'. Considering that this is the same trendy label that's been applied to games as un-RPG-like as Assassin's Creed Unity, it remains to be seen just how much of an RPG Horizon will really be. Working in Horizon's favour though is the fact that it has a quest system whereby, according to the game director Mathijs de Jonge, "you can go, and pick up side-quests wherever you encounter them". It is also written by John Gonzalez, who wrote Fallout: New Vegas. The game looks gorgeous, but it's too early to tell whether it'll live up to its potential. We'll find out closer to release (which is currently vaguely scheduled for 2016).
