10 Hottest Gaming Trends To Keep An Eye On
3. Early Access For Games
"Early Access" has become a godsend for many indie game developers.
It enables them to make money while still finishing their game and receive important feedback from players about anything that needs improving. This of course does not guarantee that the game will be good, but at least it gives gamers an idea about what to expect.
Successful indie titles like Hades have benefited immensely from Early Access, and it has helped many other developers refine their games before release. It could even be argued that had bigger games like Cyberpunk 2077, Anthem and Fallout 76 taken advantage of Early Access during development, they could have avoided releasing in such broken and unplayable states.
Not everyone will want to go through with this procedure, especially with the element of risk involved in paying for a game that is not finished from an unproven developer.
But it looks like the Early Access model has allowed more unorthodox and experimental games to be made, letting indie teams generate hype, answer questions from fans and support the game directly before launch.
