This has been one that fans of the Naughty Dog's first post-apocalyptic adventure have been praying for ever since completing the original, but information on whether it's actually going to happen has been scarce. Despite famous voice actor Nolan North stating he "knew" that the studio were working on a sequel, this was quickly mooted as a mere ideas session by director Neil Druckmann.

However, further evidence that an immensely popular sequel could be in the works was recently picked up via a Naughty Dog live stream. Quotes from developer Josh Scherr were picked up by a few sources, in which he noted the following:

All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric, here . . . and [on] the first The Last of Us... Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?

This quick slip-up seems to be enough to confirm that genuine development on a sequel is underway, perhaps meaning we can finally get truly excited another adventure for Joel, Ellie or a whole new protagonist. Given that the single player DLC for Uncharted 4 is likely to take the studio's attention for the rest of 2016, we'll most likely have to wait until 2017 to hear any more on The Last of Us 2. It's going to be a torturous wait, of course, but the end result is pretty much guaranteed to be worth it!
