One of the most revered games of all time, it's easy to see why gamers are so disappointed that they never received a follow-up to this fan-favourite sequel. Crafting some of the most influential features in video game history, everything from the gravity gun to the survival-horror influenced level Ravenholm solidified Half-Life 2 as an expansive and hugely varied experience. However, the groundbreaking physics-based combat that made up most of the gameplay in Valve's sequel has been used in pretty much every game since. While it was exciting to send enemies flying and watching them rag-doll over the map in 2004, it's a feature of pretty much every action game today. It's still fun, of course, but why would you want to throw around bad guys Half Life when you can go to just about every other new release to get the same experience?
