Forget Farmville and all of the other rubbish that people pass off as video games on Facebook. The social network boss finds himself at the top of this list for one very special reason: the HD virtual-reality headset, Oculus Rift. One of the most exciting developments in gaming history, and something that could entirely change the way we experience video games. He tried it, he loved it, he bought it. And the gaming world shuddered with fear. Everyone has been looking forward to the Oculus Rift for a long time now - Oculus VR gave a reason to be genuinely excited about virtual reality gaming for the first time - but when Zuckerberg announced that he had spent some loose change and bought the company, there was a sense of dread across the board. And so, whether gamers like it or not, the future of virtual reality gaming rests in his back pocket. A scary thought, some might say. But it doesn't need to be a death toll for hopes of truly awesome virtual reality experiences. Zuckerberg has on numerous occasions made it clear that, for now at least, Oculus VR is still aiming their Rift project directly at the gaming industry. How long before they push gaming aside and Oculus Rift becomes a glorified social networking tool to tell your friends what you had for dinner? Who knows.
