10 Iconic Video Game Scores That'll Give You Goosebumps
6. Final Fantasy Series - Nobuo Uematsu
Like The Legend of Zelda before it, Final Fantasy is another series which could easily have spawned a list entirely of its own, such is the quality of the music in virtually every instalment of this beloved franchise.
Where it arguably differs from Zelda, however, is that it lacks a Wind Waker; an entry whose music towers above its brother and sister titles.
Take nothing away from the music of Final Fantasy, however, as it is truly stunning in its own right. Leaning very heavily into high production values, the music of Final Fantasy is brimming with full orchestras, vocal choirs, and rousing high energy crescendos.
On the other hand, tracks like FF Xiii's Fabula Nova Christallis are calm, serene, reflective; allowing the player to catch their breath and enjoy the uplifting strings and unobtrusive piano. In stark contrast to this track, however, FF XIV: A Realm Reborn's Ultima track would not feel out of place in The Witcher or Game of Thrones.
Musical diversity should perhaps be expected in such a wide-ranging series as Final Fantasy, but the places the scores consistently take the player and the emotions they evoke are nothing short of breathtaking.
