10 Iconic Video Game Villains RUINED By Developers
3. Thanos - Guardians Of The Galaxy
You don't have to be a Marvel fan to know that Thanos is the big baddie of the superhero world. After all, the only thing higher than his kill count in Infinity War is the final sum his films netted the company.
And so, his inclusion in a big blockbuster video game was about as 'inevitable' as things come. What wasn't so predictable, however, was just how butchered this appearance would be.
Prior to the launch of the Guardians of the Galaxy series from Telltale, all the promotional material centred around this being a Thanos showdown for the ages. Instead, what players got was 25 minutes of a poor man's imitation of the Eternal, a lacklustre boss battle and then a thoroughly underwhelming death at the end of the first chapter of the game.
Obviously an attempt at subverting expectations, players were confused as to why Telltale wouldn't cash in on having the rights to such a popular villain, and why they seemed hellbent on making him look like a total fraud.
Remember those times when Thanos was the biggest threat to the Galaxy and was actually portrayed like that? Yeah, fun times...
