10 Iconic Video Games That Could Be Made Perfect With Remakes
5. Eternal Darkness
A forgotten classic in the eyes of many GameCube fans, Eternal Darkness introduced a whole host of unique elements into the horror gaming space that have been riffed on and ripped off ever since.
From its unique location to the subversive survival-horror sanity mechanic, there was plenty of originality to be found in this release, but it has the misfortune to come at a time - and on a console - where the horror genre was becoming increasingly unpopular with players.
Which was a shame, because the gameplay itself, while clearly owing a debt to titles that came before it, was a slight step above other horror release at the time, and the way the game twisted conventional survival-horror staples and transformed them into something much more psychologically-driven deserves to be expanded upon and fully-realised today.
While not the first title to break the fourth wall or even attempt to mess with the player through meta gameplay mechanics, no developers had really used these techniques in a straight horror experience before, and a remake could make these moments even more terrifying in a post-Amnesia and P.T world.
