10 Impossible Video Game Sub-Bosses That Stopped You DEAD

8. Bubbler - Diddy Kong Racing

Diddy Kong Racing had a reputation for being rock-hard but the most frustrating part was racing the third boss, Bubbler. As you drive through the cavernous lagoon, the scarlet octopus drops spiked mines, which detonate if you touch them.

Because Bubbler is faster than you, you can't beat him fairly. You need to pick up Weapon Balloons and blast the nefarious mollusc with a missile or give yourself a speed boost.

If you use the missile, you better make sure it hits him. Missing the boss, even a single time, will most certainly cost you the match. Using a speed boost can just as easily backfire since the controls for the hovercraft are so sensitive, you can easily smash into a wall.

When Bubbler challenges you to a second race later in the game, he's WAY harder. Instead of dropping mines, the cephalopod drops bubbles that, upon touching them, will incapacitate you for a few seconds. If you hit a bubble, it's nearly impossible to catch up so you might as well restart the race.

What makes Bubbler such a nightmare is that he's one of those bosses that you can lose to even if you don't make a single mistake.
