10 Impossible Video Games Bosses You Totally Underestimated

There's nothing about Grilgan's appearance that may lead you to underestimate it. It looks like a proper fantasy monster - fangs, claws, wings, etc. Its placement in the game is what will turn your confidence into your undoing.

Grilgan is the first boss you encounter in Lost Odyssey. By this point, you're probably around level 10. So far you have gone through some tutorial fights, explored the city where the story kicks off, and fought some random battles in this early area of the game.

So when Grilgan flies down, it's easy to assume this will just be a slightly tougher fight, meant to test you on what you've learned so far. Why wouldn't you? That's just how video games work.

It's not that Grilgan is cheap or cheating. He's just downright THE HARDEST FIRST BOSS IN THE HISTORY OF GAMES. His standard attack will take a good half of your health, his magic attack will most likely kill any wounded character, he can poison you, and his strongest attack will hit your whole party and likely kill a character or two even at full health.

And to top it off, the next boss is probably the hardest second boss in the history of games. Have fun.
