10 Improvements The New Gears Of War Needs To Have
4. It's Time For A New Team
Yeah! How cool are these guys! No, but seriously, I'd say we've about had our fill of Marcus and his rag-tag crew of burly brutes by now. We've taken them to sea, down into the caverns below the planet and into the belly of a giant worm, but I'd argue it's time that Marcus and co's story is left to rest and we experience a brand new team and their adventures in the land of Sera. How about putting us in the shoes of a crew of people thrown together at the start of e-Day, forced to work together in the wake of a greater threat when they were fighting each other not long before? If you're not familiar, the events preceding the Gears series had two factions fighting it out over Imulsion (the planet's fuel source) in what was known as the Pendulum Wars. When the Locust emerged from their holes in the ground, humanity's survivors were forced to lay down their differences and join together to fight this new and highly dangerous threat. Better still, why not tell us more about the Stranded, those poor lost souls who are left alone in an extremely hostile world, hating the COG and all they stand for? It'd be extremely interesting to learn exactly what the Stranded are all about and how it all ties into the Gears narrative. This new team doesn't have to consist of expert combatants either, but could again tie into the experience system where they grow and develop as a team in skills, abilities and weaponry along with relevant story events that drive the narrative forwards.
