10 Incredible Games That Make TERRIBLE First Impressions
5. Days Gone
Here's another massively polarizing game that no one can figure out. Is it good? Is it terrible? Can it somehow be both? Well, truthfully, the last of those seems to be the fairest assessment, as there's a lot of incredible stuff in this game, but it's like Sony wants to keep it a secret until it knows you're committed. Come on Days Gone, stop playing hard to get!
When you first boot this game up, you'll not be too impressed. The visuals are fine, but, especially upon its release, plagued with technical issues. That and the opening hours don't offer anything to make this open-world zombie game feel special. It's just another open-world zombie game, you'll think.
While it comes with a poor start and is debatably far from being anything groundbreaking, there's still so much about Days Gone that improves as it goes along and makes the game worth a go.
After a while, the story does pick up momentum, especially after you make it to the Lost Lakes region. The lacklustre gunplay also wakes up once you start to get upgrades, and even the barren world becomes familiar and comforting. Is it perfect? No, but it's worth playing.
