10 Incredible Indie Games You Must Consider

That magic the gaming industry used to have? It's in the indies.

Moon Studios

In contrast to most "triple-A" games such as those produced by Bethesda or EA, indie games are those produced by individuals or smaller development teams without the financial support of a larger publisher.

The term may also refer to those games financed by publishers who do not exert significant creative control on the developers.

As you’d imagine, indie games are a whole different breed to your Assassin’s Creed-types. They’re often whacky and colourful, resembling the titles we chose to play as children – or so dark and twisted that mainstream publishers want nothing to do with them.

Whether they’re goofy or gothic, there really are some indie games you should play at least once in your life.

10. What Remains Of Edith Finch (2017)

Giant Sparrow

What Remains of Edith Finch is an adventure game developed by Giant Sparrow and published by Annapurna Interactive.

The game centres on the character of Edith Finch, last in the Finch family line, which has a perceived curse that causes all but one member of each generation to die in unusual ways. Edith is the lone survivor of her generational curse, and now carrying a child of her home.

Join in on the adventure (full of exciting flashbacks that will draw at your heartstrings) as Edith ventures through her childhood home; through hidden passages, forbidden rooms and a landscape that will take your breath away.

This game goes seamlessly from having you turn into a cat; to ultimately revealing... well, you'll have to play and see.
