4. The Happyhills Homicide

It may have ‘happy’ in the name but don’t let that fool you because the word ‘homicide’ is just five letters later. I trust you picked that up from the title but I’m going to call attention to it again just in case. The Happyhills Homicide is another free game you can simply download and play right from a browser. It’s been a huge underground hit with fans but you’d be forgiven for never having heard of it.

The narrative is flipped a little here, though, as you play the role of the murdering killer clown, not the murder-ee, and you need to take out your victims in various gruesome ways.

By gruesome, we really mean gruesome, this game is particularly nasty even though it uses pixel art and a set of 2D environments. I don’t want to give too much away but you’ll shock a guy into knocking his face into a stool which chops his jaw off and then you’ll smash his buddy’s head into a wall until he has been fully unalived. Like I said, nasty. That said, the creativity of planning and executing the kills is genuinely unique and pretty fun.
