10 INCREDIBLE PS2 Games You Still Need To Play

1. Ico

Sony

With The Last Guardian and the gorgeous remaster of Shadow of the Colossus lighting up PS4's the world over with their sombre narratives and epic fantasy gameplay, it's honestly quite surprising that so few people have actually played Ico.

Comparatively, it's a much more bare-bones affair, with simplistic gameplay that focuses on stealth, puzzle-solving and literally taking princess Yorda by the hand and leading her to safety. Along the way, you'll have to do your best to fend off any monsters and navigate a series of deadly traps and obstacles that stand between you and freedom.

Much like its successors, Ico is a beautiful and sobering experience from start to finish. With minimal dialogue or exposition, it opts to tell its story through stark visuals and ambient music, which can evoke all manner of emotions in the player.

Original PS2 copies are still widely in circulation and an HD remaster for the PS3 can also be sourced alongside Shadow of the Colossus, but perhaps one day Sony will see sense and give this one the proper HD treatment and let us experience the complete trilogy on the PS4.
