10 INCREDIBLE PS2 Games You Still Need To Play

2. Haunting Ground

In what was originally supposed to be Clock Tower 4, this delightfully bonkers tale puts players in the shoes of Fiona Belli, who after surviving a particularly nasty car-crash, wakes up in a creepy Gothic castle full of madmen who have less than honourable intentions.

This time around though, you're not alone in your struggle, as the game gives you an adorable canine companion named Hewie. Who you’ll have to put in the effort to form a close bond with, via praising or feeding him, in order to fight off enemies or solve puzzles.

What truly sets Haunting Ground apart from all the others however is its particularly grotesque focus on body horror and psycho-sexual overtones. You truly feel the vulnerability of Fiona as you desperately try to keep her and canine companion Hewie from suffering a fate worse than death.

Time has been especially kind to Haunting Ground, the graphics still look great and the foreboding atmosphere has lost none of its potency. It garnered mixed reviews on launch and sold far below expectations, but Haunting Ground is the very definition of a cult classic.

It’s gross, disturbing and really bloody weird, but at the same time, it's absolutely brilliant.
