9. Jade - Beyond Good & Evil
Beyond Good & Evil, led by investigative reporter and one game wonder Jade, was once firmly in the forgotten gems part of Ubisoft’s catalogue.
Back in 2017 though, it was announced after years of speculation that the game was finally getting a sequel (actually a prequel), which should hopefully see it launch the franchise it always deserved.
In the not too distant future then, Jade’s place on this list will be outdated, but before the next instalment releases, let's celebrate her.
Though her game was a commercial failure at the time, it's since grown into a cult classic, largely on the back of Jade and her uncle and sidekick, Pey'j.
Created by the same man who brought us Rayman (Michael Ancel), Jade is a feisty yet down to earth hero, similar to her contemporary, Alyx Vance from Half Life 2. A talented martial artist, Jade offers both action and intrigue to Beyond Good & Evil players.
He starts out determined but a little naïve, growing into tougher, wiser figure as the game goes on. It's unfortunate that the prequel will be set before these character developments, but she's a layered enough character to hopefully evolve in different ways whenever 2 comes out.
