10 Incredible Video Game Stories That Got Everybody Talking
2. Spec Ops: The Line
When you think about it, whether youre indiscriminately killing, robbing or exploding enemies to their most base chemicals, games dont really dwell on the violence they're dishing out. Well, most games don't - Spec Ops: The Line uniquely put this brutality at the forefront, tackling such a controversial topic head on in a frank and unforgiving manner by questioning both the players and characters for indulging in such anarchy in the first place. As the game draws on and on it becomes more apparent that the noble quest you first embarked on to save a war-torn city has been cast aside in favour of power and violence. Eventually you realise that the character you're playing as has completely cracked, endangering himself and everyone around him. Spec Ops: The Line flipped everything on its head, and no video game has directly engaged with the mediums love of violence anywhere near as powerfully as this did.
