10 Incredible Video Games You Can't Play Today
5. Okamiden
Okami may have sold poorly during its initial run, but the cel-shaded brushwork title garnered newfound appreciation when it received HD ports on other systems. It may have taken a while, but it's reassuring to see Clover Studio's magnum opus find the love it deserved in the place.
And yet, the same cannot be said about Okamiden.
The DS exclusive doesn't match its predecessor, but this spiritual successor of Okami is still enjoyable. Though Okamiden maintains the same system of drawing symbols to create objects, solve puzzles, and destroy enemies, there are a few additions and improvements.
Firstly, there's far less backtracking. (Even the biggest Okami lovers found that aspect tedious.) Our new hero, Chibiterasu, can team up with others this time around, which is necessary for certain battles and puzzles. Many enemies reward Chibiterasu if they're defeated a certain way. Not only does this incentivise players to battle creatively, it stops the combat from feeling repetitive.
Even though Okamiden didn't sell well, Capcom could turn all that around by porting the heck out of it.
But here we are almost 15 years later, and Okamiden is still stuck on the Nintendo DS. With no word of a port, Okami veterans may never get the chance to play this magnificent follow-up.
