The Warhammer Fantasy and 40k universes provide for many grand and glorious stories. What better way to enjoy them than to take part in them. Over the years many games have been produced set in the worlds given to us by Games Workshop. While they've been of varying quality there are many diamonds in the rough that are worth your time whether or not you're a hardcore Warhammer fan.

First and Third person shooters, turn-based strategy, real time strategy and more all have a home in the grim dark. Developers have used the buckets of lore to craft some incredible experiences and in the case of Dawn of War they've even had a permanent impact by creating their own chapter of Space Marines.

Whether it's watching a play through or trying these games out for yourself these games are worth putting your time into. 40k fan or Old World adherent all will find something to enjoy in these 10 games.

10. Warhammer 40k: Fire Warrior

The Earliest entry on the list doesn’t actually put you in the boots of a human, augmented or otherwise. Fire Warrior sees the player taking on the role of a Tau Fire Warrior named Shas'la Kais. The game initially has the Imperium of Man taking the role of antagonist before Kais must team up with them to take on the true enemy, the powers of Chaos.

Taking the form of a first person shooter, Fire Warrior has Kais taking on everything from Imperial Guard and Space Marines to Chaos Dreadnoughts and Daemon Princes. Being a Tau warrior who is about the size of an average human shows the true frightening scale of these threats.

The game set out to be a Halo killer with posters and magazine ads proclaiming “Who needs Halo?” However the game was released to a lukewarm response. If you’re looking for a 40K first person shooter from the rare non-human perspective; this is worth a look.
