10 Incredibly Cheap Video Game Moves (That You Totally Used All The Time)

6. FarSight XR-20 (Perfect Dark)

Rare

Rare's spiritual-sequel to their FPS-altering Bond romp Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, came with an arsenal of inventive and exciting new weapons. There's the Dragon, a heavy-duty assault rifle which can be deployed as a proximity mine once its chugged out all its ammo. You've got the laptop gun, that can be programmed as a sentry turret and also runs Solitaire. Then there's the hefty Reaper, which, held in two hands like a gatling gun, does exactly what its menacing name suggests.

But none of them hold a candle in the (perfect) dark to the FarSight XR-20, a piece of overpowered alien hardware that can shoot through friggin' walls. Oh, and it also kills anything with a single Mayan slug. So as you'd probably expect, it's a mad scramble in multiplayer to pick it up as soon as possible, thus ensuring victory. The FarSight is a far cry from fair.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
