Final Fantasy X was an incredible game when it originally released in 2001, and it was made even better when the HD remaster hit PlayStation 3 and Vita over a decade later. Alongside an epic plot line and fast-paced combat, improved visuals, a remixed soundtrack, and extra gameplay breathed new life into this classic JRPG that both new and old fans could appreciate.

Despite all the new features and enhancements, the remake still forced players to endure the much maligned sport of Blitzball.

A game in which opposing players swim in a giant sphere of water and score points by throwing a ball into the other team's goal, Blitzball was intended to add some worldbuilding to Spira much in the same way as Gwent did to The Witcher 3.

Unlike the addictive card game, though, Blitzball was an absolute chore to play. In addition to grinding the story to a halt so Tidus can compete in a tournament, terrible AI made playing the sport more about pure luck than skill.

Unfortunately for completionists, they’d need to endure hours more of this tedious sport to unlock all four of Wakka’s overdrive slots by winning tournaments.

Though Blitzball has its supporters, there was nothing enjoyable about unlocking that trophy.
