10 Infuriating Video Game Moments That Made You Rage Quit

2. Driver - Tutorial Mission

The original Driver for the PS1 was an incredible game for its time, offering vibrant 3D graphics, an open-world city to explore, and missions that harked back to the great car chase movies and buddy cop TV shows of the 70s. This is all well and good, but none of it really counts for much if the tutorial mission is so infuriatingly difficult that 50% of people will throw their controllers down and never play the game again. Mentioning that tutorial mission will no doubt send unpleasant shivers up the spines of those who experienced it first-hand, as you had to guide your car through a nefarious obstacle course located in a dingy underground garage. Not only was the setting drab, but you had to complete a list of tough maneouvers - including a slalom among the pillars, a flawless lap of the garage, and some nifty handbrake turns - in tight conditions that you pretty much never come across in the rest of the game. It could take hours to complete (not including the breaks you'd need to take to cool off from the tortuous experience), and by the time you got to the main game (if you got to the main game), you'd be filled with scorn that it made you go through all that trouble. Though you'd quickly forget about your ire once you hit the sun-soaked streets of Miami.
