6. Final Fantasy VIII - Ragnarok

Imagine being adrift in space, floating aimlessly and fearing the encroaching threat of death as your oxygen slowly depletes. Such is the risk that Squall takes when he ditches his escape pod to save Rinoa. How very noble, etc.

So imagine the relief when a badass looking ship appears and becomes your mysterious saviour. You'd be ecstatic at your luck, right?

Of course, being a Final Fantasy game, nothing is that simple. The Ragnarok is infested with giant beasties named Propagators, that need taking out. Okay, fine, no biggie.

But there's a catch...

Like bananas in pajamas, these things come in pairs. You have to eliminate both in a coloured pair before moving on to the next. Yet if you weren't sure, and killed one before taking out a different colour, the previous one respawns. And these aren't your standard enemies, either.

First timers would be pissed if you unwittingly took out three of a different colour, only to backtrack and find the bugger(s) awaiting you like nothing had happened. I know I was.

Or, you could grind out twenty five of them and be done with it. That's just as annoying.
