10 Infuriating Video Game Puzzles Fans Hated
5. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - The Owl
We all know and love Metal Gear as a series for its (mostly) stealth antics, bonkers plot and colourful characters. However, there's one part in the pre-Metal Gear Solid boom that will make any reminiscing fan scowl at the thought of it.
I say this because who, in their right mind, would conjure up such a crafty and obtuse puzzle like this. Oh, wait. It's a Kojima game. Carry on...
The whole execution of carrying an egg, waiting for it to hatch and distract a guard so that Snake can access the prison is... well, genius, from an outside perspective.
Yet from a gameplay one, and a point that stopped many in their progress, it was frustrating. Who would have thought ornithology and bird rearing would feature in a game about soldiers and giant robots?
Looking back, it's easy to go, "Oh yeah, of course. Owls hoot at night, that's the best time to come back here". Yet at the time, it had many stumped.
But then, this is the series that went on to give us controller port switching and suicide pill swallowing boss fights. It shouldn't be surprising.
