4. Marvel Universe Online

Given how Marvel at the movies has really taken off in recent years with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's amazing to think it was so difficult to get Marvel Universe Online off the ground, and given that DC beat them to the punch with the middling DC Universe Online, it made sense for Marvel to get their skates on given how they are evidently the more popular commodity of the two. I mean, who wouldn't want to play an MMO in which they can run around as their favourite superhero? Microsoft, Cryptic Studios and Marvel eventually shelved the game because they believed it wouldn't be able to compete in the fierce MMO market, which sort of begs the question - um, didn't you guys do your research
before green-lighting a project like this? And is it really more financially viable to just pull the plug? An alternate free-to-play version called Marvel Heroes was recently released, but it resembles little of the original concept. What a shame.
