There are few games in gaming history that formed a genre so massively as Age of Empires back in the day. The sequel became an incredible cult classic, re-released 20 years later as an HD remake.
With the poorly received of the third game in the series, Microsoft put Age of Empires to rest. The developers, Ensemble Studios went on and did Halo Wars, before being disbanded in 2009.
The hope for another Age of Empire died until Microsoft released a teaser trailer in August 2018, giving us little to no information about it.
Today we know that Company of Heroes and Dawn of War developers Relic Entertainment took up the development. Westwood veteran developer Adam Isgreen taking the position of the creative director on the project, making use of his experience of the creation of the early Command & Conquer games.
I'm excited to see how the fourth part of this legendary series turns out, and maybe we'll see next year the first of it.
