10 Insulting Video Game Features You Had To Pay For
8. Faster Weapons - Dead Space
The original Dead Space is a masterclass in sci-fi horror. It's a groundbreaking title with one awesome sequel, one terrible one, and an excellent remake. Still, the first game in the series came with a DLC pack that was undoubtedly questionable.
The Speed Kills Pack was a downloadable weapons upgrade that allowed you to increase the speed of the Force Gun, Line Gun, and Plasma Cutter. It acted as a skin for the existing guns, coating them in black and yellow stripes and increasing their firing rate.
Now, bumping up the speed of your guns did help to dispatch Necromorphs quicker, but was there any need to fork out nearly $3 for it? These speedy guns could have easily been included in the base game as unlockables, and they certainly didn't impact the gameplay enough to feel like an essential purchase.
Maybe it would have been better if the pack upgraded the gun's base stats, but they didn't. Sure, if you felt like harmonizing with Sonic and going fast, you could, but no one was asking for that option.
