10 Most Intriguing Indie Gaming Releases Yet To Come In 2014

4. No Man's Sky

Hello Games are not new to brilliant indie games, as their terrific Joe Danger games prove. Their previous games have great gameplay, great controls and great design. However with No Man€™s Sky they are taking on a huge challenge. No Man€™s Sky set the internet ablaze with chatter after its announcement last year. The game promises to give you the opportunity to explore a completely unique galaxy, not just unique in terms of gaming, but unique for each player. Once again the idea of procedurally generated environments is present, but No Man€™s Sky is attempting to do this on the most impressive of scales. The developers have not relied on pure randomness to design their game, rather applying a set of complex rules to the process. Thus each world you visit should be different, but with a working ecosystem, including creatures like giant, carnivorous sand worms. They€™re combining all this creation with space travel. It's epic stuff. The aim of the game is slightly unclear at the moment, but the overall premise seems to be focussed on exploration, rather than survival. Unfortunately during the tempestuous British winter the developers offices, located in Guildford, were flooded. Let€™s hope that this doesn't delay what will surely be one of 2014€™s most interesting releases.
