10 Most Intriguing Indie Gaming Releases Yet To Come In 2014
3. Scale
Guns are perhaps the most consistent part of video game history, and over the years weve seen a huge variety of weaponry. From the BFG in Doom, the Gravity Gun in Half-Life 2, to the titular Portal Gun in Portal weve seen a huge variety of different weaponry. Scale promises to give us something very original, and if it keeps that promise this could be an excellent game. There have been a huge array of great indie puzzle games, and Scale looks to become part of this pantheon. The game focuses on a young girl searching peoples memories for certain special moments, thus giving no limitation to the scenarios the game may throw at you. The game is being written by Dale Beran, famed for his surreal and incredibly imaginative web comic A Lesson Is Learned But The Damage Is Irreversible. This should ensure that the story is at the very least interesting, and will hopefully add a driving narrative to this puzzle game. Scale is based around exploration as well as the puzzle-solving, and designer Steve Swink has certainly been pushing the idea of using the scale gun to explore the landscapes. In the limited trailers that have been shown so far we've seen giant frogs swallowing our hero, and shrunken trees being carried about. If the game lives up to its potential then we could be in for something special.
