10 iPad Games That Are As Good As Anything On Consoles Right Now
6. The Room 2
If you remember the internet in its relative infancy, then chances are you played one of those frustrating browser-based room games. The premise was simple, you were trapped inside a room and to escape you had to click your way around a fairly poorly rendered space to unearth the clues and items needed to escape. They were actually quite popular, and as well as spewing a few real-life Escape Rooms that you and all your pals can attempt hungover on a stag do, there's also a version for iPad. The Room 2 (you guessed it, sequel to The Room), has surprisingly been heralded as one of the most immersive and addictive puzzle games to appear on the tablet in recent years. Somewhere between the lower decks of a ship, a crypt full of whispering noises, and some sort of Victorian-era seance parlour, The Room 2 is broken up into a number of episodic chapters that each tease portions of the game's mysterious plot. It's creepy in parts, immensely frustrating in others, but offers some of the greatest satisfaction in gaming when you finally manage to make everything work. If you're after action and adventure then run a mile, but if you're a fan of having your brain taxed to breaking point while a whole story unravels around you then The Room 2 is tailor made for you.
