Back in the days when Resident Evil was still awesome, Capcom packed the games out with a panoply of unlockables and easter eggs. There were new characters, new weapons, timed runs, and tougher difficulty settings, giving you good reason to play through the games over and over again. Seeing as Resident Evil 2 let you play through the whole game as a giant block of tofu, it didn't seem beyond the realm of possibility that you could unlock Street Fighter's Akuma as a playable character. The rumour once again stemmed from those old devils at EGM, who as another April Fool's joke destined for legend, said that Akuma could be unlocked by typing 'Akuma' instea of 'Guest' into the laboratory console, then beating both the game's scenarios with an 'A' rank six times using only a handgun and knife. Seeing how successful EGM's Sheng Long prank was, they probably should've known that countless deluded, naive young gamers wouldn't be in on the joke, and would quixotically proceed to carry out the completely hopeless task - establishing the myth worldwide in the process
