10 Legendary Video Game Myths That Fooled Us All

3. Find The Triforce In Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

The Triforce was always a big deal in Zelda games. Essentially a big golden triangle with an upside-down triangular hole punched in the middle, the coveted relic can do pretty much anything, granting the owner as many wishes as they like - putting the three-use genie in a bottle to shame. As with most Zelda games, the Triforce plays a big part in Ocarina of Time, though it's never obtainable by Link in the game. For a long time however, it was believed that you could obtain the Triforce by playing a mysterious song on Link's Ocarina called the Overture of Sages. This would transport the player to the Temple of Light, where you could get the legendary slab of bling. Of course, this would be completely illogical, because then Link would have the all the power in the world, rendering his quest null and void. He could just wish Ganondorf away from Hyrule, wish himself a better haircut, and wish his way into bed with Princess Zelda. While this rumour was propagated by one 'Ariana Almandoz', who later retracted it, there was also a legitimate Nintendo trailer showing Link finding the Triforce before Ocarina of Time was released.
