10 Lessons Pokémon Needs To Learn From Palworld

5. Raid-Like Content That Doesn't Suck

Pocket Pair is still putting the finishing touches on proper raids for Palworld but even in its fledgling state, existing overworld boss fights are far superior to Pokémon's Raid Dens/Dynamax Raids, not least because they're actually integrated into the world organically instead of being walled off behind egregiously long loading times. Likewise, Palworld allows free movement around each arena which, while not revolutionary by any means, allows for a more interactive and cinematic feel to each encounter instead of being forcibly rooted in one spot like a lemon.

Contrary to the above, what Pokéfans get instead, is a series of static crystals littered around Paldea that, when interacted with, whisk you off to a loading screen to deal with Scarlet and Violet's obtuse multiplayer systems before a 'raid' can even kick off. There's no freedom to how you approach a battle, either, and the godawful Terastal system makes the copy-and-paste feature from Sword and Shield somehow less inspiring than before. No other singular portion of the series better puts forward the case in favour of real-time Pokémon combat.

If nothing else, its inclusion would solve the exasperating desynch issues that make it impossible to gauge how much health a raid boss has remaining thanks to turns between players consistently being taken out of order.
