10 Longest Boss Battles In Gaming History

2. Adamantoise - Final Fantasy XV

FFXV Adamantoise

Five million hit points may not seem like a lot after the last couple of entries but this is Final Fantasy XV we’re talking about, and the devs wanted you fighting this guy for fifteen hours. I guess somewhere between FF XI and XV, Square stopped caring about people vomiting out of exhaustion.

Adamantoise is a super boss who looks like a gigantic stoney tortoise but does not fight like one. You are so hilariously tiny next to this guy it looks like he could squash you by looking at you sideways. Even at max level with the best weapons this fight is a challenge, but Adamantoise has a bunch of fantastic loot to drop assuming you manage to actually make him drop it.

This isn’t the toughest fight but it is incredibly tedious, or at least it was before the game was updated. It’s worth noting that, post-update, there is a slim chance you can beat him in one shot with the Ring of Lucii but it’s a dice roll as to whether you’ll succeed. Before the game came out Square Enix had actually said this guy was going to take 72 hours to beat.

While the fight didn’t end up taking as long as Square intended for it to, it’ll probably still require a good couple hours of hacking away sans-ring exploit.
