10 Masterpiece Video Games That Are Total Technical Powerhouses
10. Hitman (2016)
IO Interactive knocked it out of the f*cking PARK with their latest Hitman - to the point where every last entry in the series simply pales in comparison. Each level is a miniature world of intricately-coded routines and A.I. scripts, allowing you to pull at all manner of threads, just to see what'll happen.
Don't think the aesthetic present in the game's menu is the entirety of a given level, either. The gorgeous, sun-kissed village/beach combo of Sapienza hides an underground chemical lab, just as the mountainous Bond villain-like treatment facility in Hokkaido has a whole series of sci-fi surgical equipment you can tinker with.
The fun of Hitman has always been answering the notion of "I wonder what happens if I do THIS...", and 2016's edition gives you a few thousand unique possibilities at every turn. For example, why poison the target's drink when if you cause an alarm and watch him attempt to flee in a plane, only to blast it out the sky with a cannon ball?
