10 Mega Man Facts You Probably Never Knew

2. X5 Bosses

Gnr In the North American version of Mega Man X5, the bosses were named after members of the band Guns 'n Roses. The interesting part about this is the Japanese names have nothing to do with the band and Capcom had nothing to do with this naming. The names were changed by translator Alyson Court. She named them after the band because her husband at the time was a big Guns 'n Roses fan. Her ex-husband owned a company that did most of the localization work for Capcom and she worked on translating many games, but X5's Mavericks were done this way as a little joke. She had little knowledge of the Mega Man series and didn't know until much later that she added music references to a game series that is already full of them. There was a massive backlash from fans about this for quite a while. She defended herself by claiming the reference to music after she had learned about it.
