1. That Startup Sequence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31ivdML1Xes Ahh... Those were the days. Console startups aren't as unique as they once were, but the PS1's was pretty special. Seeing the PlayStation logo fade in signified that you were just a few seconds away from playing something awesome. The powerful sound evokes dozens of memories, from booting it up for the first time to excitedly waiting for a new game to load - it was there for everything. Those that had a dodgy laser in their system that struggled to read discs probably associate the startup sequence with pain and frustration more than anything, but for everyone else it's so pleasantly nostalgic it actually hurts a little.
