10 Mistakes That Led To WWE 2K's Downfall

4. Towers Mode

Your writer needs a slap on the wrist for once pontificating that 2K's Towers Mode could become the "Mortal Kombat-inspired game mode this series needs" before 2K19's release. When he actually got to play the thing hands-on, he realised (along with everyone else) that it was another empty single-player bone hurled at series veterans like scraps of food to a starving dog.

Towers is flat out dull.

No amount of golden AJ Styles bonus characters, million dollar giveaway challenges or legends can change that fact. It's boring, it always has been boring and it's another poor replacement tacked on to fool fans into thinking they're getting more bang for their buck. 2K may have had good intentions and thought they were adding value here, but they didn't.

Having to slog through some of the Towers on offer to complete them was a chore. The resources put into developing this mode should've gone towards a proper, WWE star-centric Story Mode, not some MK-lite b*llocks.
