If you've ever doubted how great the Yakuza series is, just ask Scott Tailford and he will undoubtedly let you know.

Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the original 2006 game that came out in 2017 and is set in 1988. With an eclectic mix of absurdity, humor, and tense, emotional drama - not to mention a fantastic soundtrack - Yakuza 0 is not one to be missed.

The story centers around finding a blind woman named Makimura Makoto who is the key to securing control of an empty lot in order to build something that will allow the owner to make billions of yen. When adjusted for inflation and currency it comes out to a whole helluva lot of money.

One of the fellows helping you track down Makoto, for his own goals, is a man named Tachibana - who turns out to be her estranged brother.

All through the game it appears that Tachibana's right hand man, Oda Jun, is a faithful accomplice. Right up until he tries to kill you and Makoto, of course. Why? Oh because he sold her into human slavery before he knew she was Tachibana's sister, and he can't risk Tachibana finding out, so he defects to the ultimate antagonist, Shibusawa, to cover his tracks.

Not very best-friend-like, if you ask me.
