10 MORE Video Games Clearly Released Unfinished
5. Aliens: Colonial Marines
Look, we all know developing a game is no easy task. Even the most forgettable AAA games still have development cycles of up to two years, are made by teams consisting of god knows how many dozens of people, and cost tens of millions of dollars to produce.
So, when you hear that Aliens: Colonial Marines took roughly 12 years to develop you have to wonder... what exactly did they spend all of that time doing?
Gearbox Software, developers of another little title called Duke Nukem Forever that nearly made its way onto this list itself, released Aliens: Colonial Marines in an embarrassingly incomplete state back in 2013.
Missing textures, god knows how many bugs, terribly programmed AI, and just straight-up rubbish, wonky gunplay. Even more embarrassing is that back in 2017, a modder discovered that the problems with the xenomorph AI was actually a result of a spelling error in the game's code.
It didn't help that Gearbox showed off a demo for the game not too long before its release that looked a lot better than the final product we ended up getting, which actually led to a class-action lawsuit being filed against both Gearbox and Sega. Well deserved, honestly.
