2. Life Is Strange
Dontnod's ground-breaking episodic series Life Is Strange opens with the cataclysmic event which defines the entire story - the imminent destruction of Arcadia Bay due to an apocalyptic storm passing through the town.
In the game's opening scene we play as protagonist Max as she's caught in the middle of the storm by Arcadia Bay's lighthouse, and the scene ends just as she's about to be killed by falling debris. Max then wakes up in her photography class and the rest of the game plays out.
Now if we're getting technical, this is actually a premonition rather than a scene literally carved from the back-end of the game, as players are actually able to pick one of two outcomes to end their story.
But the final episode's climax does still take place in the middle of the storm by the lighthouse, so it fits regardless even if the scene is fundamentally different the second time around.
