10 More Video Games Where You Die At The End
4. Resistance 2
Insomniac Games' Resistance: Fall of Man is a severely underrated title in the history of the FPS genre. A launch title for the PS3, the game introduced players to Nathan Hale, a US soldier players take control of as he and a small band of humans fight against a mysterious race of alien beings known as Chimera across England.
Early on in the game, Hale is infected by the Chimera and increasingly becomes more and more possessed by the disease that eventually starts to transform him. This storyline continues into Fall of Man's sequel, Resistance 2. Unfortunately for Hale, this would also be where his story comes to a dramatic conclusion.
Having battled against the rising infection across the entire storyline, Resistance 2 comes to a close with Hale heroically detonating a nuclear bomb in the hopes of destroying the Chimeran fleet. Whilst he successfully saves both his own and the life of Corporal Joseph Capelli, the game closes on a dramatic shot of Hale's condition beyond critical staring up at a host of planets in the sky before confirming that he is now more Chimera than man.
With no option left on the cards, the final act of the game is to show Capelli executing Hale with a single shot to the head.
