Possibly addictive by virtue of being stupidly hard, the trial n' error-based nature of Cuphead means that although boss fights are only around 2 minutes long once you know what you're doing, it'll take a good half hour of grinding to figure each one out.

Alongside the bosses (which really are the star of the show) are a number of run n' gun levels where nabbing gold coins can get you specific abilities and immunities, possibly letting you stand more of a chance against the next big foe.

It all rolls together in an unforgiving way we haven't seen in years (even Super Meat Boy was 2010), backed by some of the best 2D graphics of all time, and a difficulty that feels immortally old-school, too.
