10 Most Addictive Video Games Of All Time

4. GoldenEye: 007

Goldeneye 007 multiplayer
Rare

Even casual gamers will recognise why Goldeneye is on this list right away: multiplayer.

The campaign mode of the game is actually quite flimsy. It follows the plot of the film, hailed as Brosnan’s best entry by many, but there’s not enough to the story for it to be a great video game in its own right. Rare clearly recognised this late in the day and realised they needed something else to sell Goldeneye to the masses.

Rare were left with just a few weeks to put something together in order to expand the playability of Goldeneye and they decided a multiplayer death match mode would be the order of the day. What a decision it turned out to be as they essentially gave birth to FPS multiplayer there and then – thanks Rare; great job.

Annoyingly, to expand the multiplayer to its fullest potential, you did have to play through the story mode at least once to unlock all the stages and playable characters but it was over double quick in my household and then the fun really began for hours and hours – who doesn’t miss those days?

Probably the only person ever to see all the endings of the awful Shadow the Hedgehog video game. Professional proofreader, football fanatic, lion tamer and occasional liar.
