1. Licker (Resident Evil)
I still remember the first time I ever loaded up Resident Evil 2 and encountered the Licker; it was a pant-browning moment for many a young child who were all far too young to be playing a Resident Evil game in the first place. Playing as Leon, I entered the RCPD Police Station and walked into a save room, before noticing a mysterious creature go running past the window. I nervously enter the next room, only to see the most hideous, grotesque beast standing above me on the ceiling, with no skin, and a brain that sits on the outside of its head. A trail of saliva drips down only moments before it flies from the ceiling itself and launches an attack. The Lickers are my favourite video game enemy because they have a superb design and are also
bloody terrifying when they show up; their claws are capable of killing you in just a few strikes, and their razor-sharp tongue can also cause serious damage. It only takes a few shotgun blasts to take them down, but if you don't keep on your feet during that time, there won't be much of you left by the end. As far as "Holy s**t!" moments go, no video game bad guy has given me as many of them as Resident's Evil's dribbly, skinless beasts. Which video game enemies are your favourite?
