10 Most Badass Backstories In Mortal Kombat History
5. Kurtis Stryker
Though not a fan favourite overall; Stryker deserves his place on this list. In the original timeline Kurtis' soul is protected by Raiden when Shao Kahn invades Earth Realm and strips the souls from all it's inhabitants; he then joins the fight against the Emperor of Outworld armed just with his standard issue police equipment and no special powers. So whatever you think of the New York City Police Department Sergent; going to war with other dimensional forces that can project fireballs from their hands, teleport etc. armed with just a pistol, stun gun, police baton and various grenades and flash bangs is pretty brave and impressive. When you study the backstory for Stryker from the new timeline you find that he rescued passengers from a speeding bus rigged to explode and single handedly thwarted terrorists during the famous Greenberg Tower incident; making him the Mortal Kombat universe's version of both Jack Traven & John McClane. So whatever your personal feelings towards Kurtis; there's no denying that, given the evidence, he belongs on this list.
John is a hippie, Buddhist musician and writer from East London.
When he's not pondering about Wrestling, films, TV, video games, comics or music he can occasionally be found refereeing Dodgeball games around London and the South of England or wandering off into traffic muttering to himself...
