9. Metro Cross
Here we have an apparently cool young man wearing a full lycra bodysuit with the necessary helmet, knee and elbow pads while opening his mouth in a very strange way. The games title is proudly presented in a colourful display of Microsoft's WordArt. All of this is well displayed on the background of a giant 80s chessboard. To be fair to Metro Cross, the cover does actually represent the game quite well. The man problem is that what might work well in a game doesnt always look great in reality. The gameplay consists of controlling a guy who likes to either run or skateboard down a hallway, avoiding things and collecting things. Translating this exact formula (minus the hallway) onto the front cover is perplexing-even for 1985.
